Agronomy Field Agronomist
Full Time Kampala / Field Mid Level

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Field Agronomist to join our growing team. You will work directly with our network of smallholder farmers across Uganda, providing technical guidance on crop management, ensuring Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) are followed, and supporting the production of our premium vanilla, chilli, moringa, and hibiscus crops.

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on technical support to farmer partners on planting, cultivation, and harvesting
  • Monitor crop health, identify pest or disease issues, and recommend interventions
  • Ensure all farms under your supervision follow agreed GAP and non-GMO protocols
  • Conduct regular farm visits and produce detailed reports for management
  • Support seasonal planning and yield forecasting
  • Train farmer groups on new agricultural techniques and product standards
Requirements
  • BSc in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field
  • 2+ years field experience in crop production or extension services
  • Knowledge of vanilla, spice, or herb cultivation is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Uganda
  • Strong communication and farmer-relations skills

Operations Quality Control Officer

Our Quality Control Officer plays a critical role in maintaining the high standards that have made Essence of Africa a trusted supplier to buyers in 40+ countries. You will oversee all quality checks from incoming raw material through to final packed product, ensuring every batch meets international food safety and customer specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect incoming raw materials against approved specifications
  • Oversee drying, sorting, and processing operations for compliance
  • Collect samples for lab testing and interpret results
  • Maintain batch records, CoA documentation, and traceability logs
  • Identify non-conforming product and manage corrective actions
  • Support audits from international buyers and certification bodies
Requirements
  • BSc in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
  • 2+ years in food processing quality assurance
  • Familiarity with HACCP and food safety management systems
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
  • Experience with spices, herbs, or botanicals is a strong plus
Export & Sales Export Sales Executive

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to order fulfilment

  • Coordinate with operations and logistics to ensure on-time delivery

Requirements

Operations Processing Facility Supervisor

As Processing Facility Supervisor, you will lead day-to-day operations at our Kampala processing centre, overseeing a team of production workers and ensuring all drying, sorting, cutting, grinding, and packaging activities run efficiently, safely, and to specification.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise production floor activities and manage shift teams
  • Plan daily production schedules in line with order requirements
  • Enforce hygiene, food safety, and workplace safety standards
  • Monitor machine operation and coordinate with maintenance
  • Track production yields and report variances to management
  • Train and mentor production staff on quality and safety procedures
