Bhut Jolokia — The Ghost of Chilies

Bhut Jolokia — literally "Ghost Chili" in Assamese — is one of the most iconic super-hot chilies ever cultivated. Originating in the northeast Indian states of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur, it held the Guinness World Record for world's hottest chili from 2007 to 2011 and remains a benchmark for the modern super-hot category. Our Uganda-grown Bhut Jolokia delivers the signature slow-building, creeping burn the pepper is famous for — with the added colour and oil density Uganda's volcanic soils give.

Conical, wrinkled pods reaching up to 8 cm long, ripening from green to a deep saturated red. Ideal for craft hot sauce production, oleoresin extraction, super-hot spice blends, and pharmaceutical capsaicin applications.

What is Bhut Jolokia?
Bhut Jolokia — commonly known as the Ghost Pepper — is a super-hot chili (Capsicum chinense) originating from northeast India. It held the Guinness record for world's hottest chili from 2007 to 2011.
How hot is Ghost Pepper?
Bhut Jolokia measures 700,000–1,000,000 SHU. Its heat is delayed, building over 30–45 seconds and lingering many minutes after the initial bite.

No. The Carolina Reaper (1.4M–2.2M SHU) is roughly twice as hot as Bhut Jolokia. Ghost Pepper remains the more widely used super-hot in commercial hot sauce formulation.
What is it used for?
Primarily super-hot sauces, oleoresin extracts, capsaicin supplements, defense spray manufacture, extreme spice blends, and food-challenge retail products.
What is the minimum order?
Wholesale starts at 25 kg. Bulk export orders (500 kg to multi-tonne) available with lead times matched to Uganda's harvest calendar.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We export from Kampala to Europe, North America, Middle East, and Asia with full documentation.
